Every Thursday –For all hikes, meet at NMVC at 7 A.M. to form carpools.  We plan to stop for eats after each hike so plan to be gone for most of the day.

Please email  Dave at dfrench64@cox.net if you have questions or want to sign up for the hike.

In November we will return to hikes in and around Phoenix and meet at NMVC at 8 AM.  We will do 3 hikes right from NMVC and strongly encourage any NMVC volunteer who has not hiked these trails to go with us.  First-hand knowledge of the trails will enable you to provide better information to visitors looking for information about the trails.  All the hikes are such that you can turn around early if you are not able to go the whole way.

Nov 2 Rusty Spider Loop east of 7th Street

This is a 4 mile easy loop.  It is not on the maps we typically hand out but it is a great hike for those people not ready or do not have time to climb Shaw Butte or North Mountain.  It will take about 2 hours.

Nov 9 Shaw Butte Trail 306 Loop

We will hike the loop clockwise going up the south side and down the old road on the north side.  We will visit Cloud Nine site and an archeological site as well as the towers on top.  It is about 4 miles with a 750 foot climb and will take 3 to 4 hours.

Nov 15-16 Parsons Spring Trail and Verde Canyon Railroad

Refer to a previously distributed email for the details on this overnighter.  People can do the hike on Wednesday or the Verde RR on Thursday or both and stay overnight in Cottonwood. Email dfrench64@cox.net if interested.

Nov 23 Thanksgiving – No scheduled hike

Nov 30 North Mountain Trail 44 Loop

We will hike Trail 100 to 101 to 44, the paved trail on North Mountain.  Then go down 44 to the North Mountain Park area, follow the road to the SW and hike up 44 to the top.  It is fairly steep and rocky and not for everyone.  Those that do not want to do that part of the hike can go up the paved trail as far as you want and return to NMVC.  The full loop is about 4 miles with a 750 ft climb and will take 3 to 4 hours.
