“This public lecture will provide an introduction on the origins of the Native American boarding school system, then focusing on the history of the Phoenix Indian School from its opening in 1891 to its closure in 1990.  The talk will explore student experiences, key moments, and legacy, supplemented by historical images of the school site. “
