Hike Description: We’ll take the Spur Cross Trail to the gate, passing into the Tonto National Forest. There will likely be several water crossings which we usually navigate by stepping stones or boards but there is also a possibility of getting your shoes wet.  We hike into Chalk Canyon to see Petroglyphs, fossils, hawk’s nest and metates. We’ll spend some time here looking and snacking. You’ll want to take photos.
There are porta potties at the TH and a fee of $5.00 per person to hike spur Cross. Bring your Tonto Pass if you have one. This is an in and out hike. 

Drive Instructions: Take Cave Creek Rd. into the town of Cave Creek and turn left at Spur Cross Rd. The road will bend a couple of times (right, then left) but just follow the signs to the TH. Park in the big lot at the end of the road. We’ll meet there and walk in together.
