DESCRIPTION:Two-Day (16 hour) Wilderness First Aid Course\n\n\n\n\nJune 3 & 4\, 2023\, 8am-5pm\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you prepared?\n\n\nWhat happens if a medical emergency happens to you\, a family member\, or a friend while you are in the wilderness? Do you know how to safely respond to a life-threataning injury? Gain peace-of-mind in learning the same life-saving skills taught to outdoor professionals across the country. \nThis fast-paced\, yet comprehensive two-day program will teach you skills for responding to medical emergencies in the backcountry. A blended course of classroom learning\, skills labs\, and outdoor scenarios for plenty of hands-on practice. \nTopics covered in the two-day WFA course include: \n\nPatient Assessment System\nPrinciples of Splinting\nPreparedness and Prevention\nEnvironmental Emergencies\nLong-term Patient Care\nSoft Tissue Injuries\nBites and Stings\n\n…and many other potentially life-saving skills! \nTuition includes: \n\nSOLO’s Field Guide to Wilderness First Aid (current edition)\nWilderness First Aid Map\nSOLO WFA certification card\n\nPlease Bring: \n\nNotebook and pen for notes during classroom session\nWater and snacks (sack lunch in lieu of eating offsite recommended)\nClothing appropriate for expected weather conditions\, approximately 1/3 of the course will be outdoors\, will require kneeling on dirt surfaces\nBackpack with items you normally take into the backcountry. If new to the outdoors\, you can download the WFA Gear List at https://soloschools.com/solo-docs-and-pubs/\n\nNOTE: You must have the physical capacity to kneel on concrete and dirt surfaces while participating in the skill labs and outdoor scenarios. Beginning January 1\, 2020\, only current SOLO WFRs can recertify through this WFA course. This WFA course also serves as a ‘Wild Day’ to recertify the wilderness component for current WEMTs. COVID-19 precautions are currently in place\, do not come to class if you have any symptoms\, you can transfer to our next class or request a refund. \nIf you have any further questions regarding the Wilderness First Aid courses provided by CAMRA\, difficulties with online registration\, or general questions regarding wilderness medicine\, please contact WildernessMedicine@mountainrescue.org. \nLocation: \nNorth Mountain Visitor Center \n12950 N 7th St \nPhoenix\, Arizona 85022

SUMMARY:Live Music at the Coffee House
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Coffee House Saturdays at the North Mountain Visitor Center (NMVC)\, 12950 North 7th Street MAP every third Saturday of the month. We feature coffee from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. generously donated from Save Our Mountains Foundation and other local brew houses. We also have wonderful breakfast snack items to purchase in our Exhibit Hall gift shop plus free snack items from donations from local donors\, the proceeds of all sales and donations go to help with the operation of the NMVC. Admission is always free.
