SUMMARY:BOTANICAL ART PERMANENT DISPLAY: SEEDS – Foundation of Life\, Hope for the Future
DESCRIPTION:Many of us are familiar with the old proverb\, “From a tiny acorn a mighty oak grows.”  True\, but consider Saguaro\, King of the Sonoran Desert.  Its tiny seeds\, 1-1.5mm\, can develop into a forty-foot giant. Supporting these tiny power houses are the fruits which come in a variety of shapes and sizes providing the nurturing environment for the seeds to develop. \nCome visit the North Mountain Visitor Center (NMVC) and view an exquisite display of botanical illustrations created by members of the Southwest Society of Botanical Artists (SWSBA).  This display serves to educate us all in the variety and power of some of our Sonoran Desert plants and their miniscule foundation. \nBeautiful illustrations and descriptions await your visit!  This permanent display can be viewed every day during our open hours of operation. \nNMVC also has a permanent exhibit of scientific illustrations of plants found in the preserve\, largely illustrated by SWSBA members. Come visit soon!  NMVC is open every day from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.

SUMMARY:Coffee House Saturdays with live music – Performance by ODnB & The Butler Band Duo
DESCRIPTION:9-10 A.M.Long ago\, in an America faraway…\nThere were string bands everywhere\, small groups that played all kinds of music—old-time mountain stuff\, gospel\, swing\, popular tunes of the day\, what we now call Americana—on acoustic instruments…\nODNB is today’s version of these taking to the stage with multiple guitars\, mandolins\, banjos\, Dobro\, cello\, fiddle\, accordion\, musical saw\, standup and fretless electric bass\, bouzouki\, jug and jaw harp…\nTwo people\, Bea and Odie\, hopelessly outnumbered by instruments. Come and see who wins! \n10-11 A.M. \nBirdie Nichols and Lachlan Butler are a dynamic country music duo whose live performances blend heartfelt storytelling with exceptional musicianship. Birdie takes the lead on vocals and guitar\, delivering expressive songs with warmth\, authenticity\, and a distinctive country sound\, while Lachlan provides the driving rhythm on drums and percussion\, bringing energy\, precision\, and depth to every performance. \n \nCoffee House Saturdays occurs every third and fourth Saturday of the month at the North Mountain Visitor Center (NMVC) located at 12950 North 7th Street in Phoenix. \nFree hot coffee\, refreshments and live music offered from 9 AM to 11 AM. \nAdmission is always free. \nDonations to Save Our Mountains Foundation (501c3) are always welcome.
