(Y/N) Yes  \nCarpool Time & Location: 7 am-Lowes on I-17 /ThBirdSW corner -garden center  \nHike Distance (estim): 5 miles  \nHike Time (estim): 4  \nElevation Chg (approx ft\, optional): ft  \nHike Description: We take the Ranger Tr ( 800 ft in 1.7 miles ) to the National Trail which is called the Top Of The World as it traverses along a ridge line with fantastic views . The trail climbs then drops until we reach Telegraph Pass where we will take a break in a stone structure built by the CCC in 1930 .  Following the Kiwanis Trail down a wash we see saguaros and check dams . We return to our cars via Las Lomitas .  This hike is worth the cardio effort so come along . The group will be split into two group if the turnout is more than 20. Rich will lead the second group at a more relaxed pace .  Let DQ if you are carpooling.  \nDrive Instructions: Arrive at South Mt Park Entrance on Central Avenue. continue pass the second pay station   ( no fee but restrooms .) PassThree Table Picnic Area and take the next left at the faded sign for FIVE TABLE.  No restrooms at this TH.    DO NOT FOLLOW GOGGLE DIRECTIONS. PS if you go uphill you have gone to far – we are hiking uphill.

We will start at the Visitor center where we had our annual party\, take the Charles Christiansen Tr down the valley to Shaw Butte Trail .  Traveling clockwise on Trail 306 we go up the steep south side of Shaw Butte and stop in at Cloud Nine Restaurant Ruins . Sorry no food served.  At the top of the mt. the views of the valley will delight us and we will take a short break . On the down hill we can stop in at Hohokam ruins and see the petroglyphs replicated in the visitor center . This is a moderately difficult hike due to the steepness of the trail.  \nDrive Instructions: 12950 N 7th St Phoenix
