SUMMARY:NMVC THURSDAY HIKES: TOP OF THE WORLD
DESCRIPTION:Name of Hike:  Top of the World  \nWhen: Thursday\, March 13\, 2025\, 8:30 AM \nLocation: South Mountain \nHike Leader(s): Debi Q Let me know you’re coming at debi.quarry@gmail.com or 602 5241433 \nMeet Up: 8:30 am at the TH \nCarpool options: Text me your phone # 48 hrs. in advance and I will share it with who wants to carpool. \nEstimated Difficulty: difficult \nEstimated Length in Hours: 3 1/2 – 4 1/2 hrs. \nEstimated Distance in Miles: 5.5 with an elevation change of 1\,250 feet \nDescription: We take the Ranger Trail (800 ft in 1.7 miles) to National Trail which is called Top of the World at this point as it traverses along a ridge line with fantastic views. The trail then climbs and drops until we reach Telegraph Pass and there\, we will take an eating break at a stone structure built by the CCC in the 1930’s. Following the Kiwanis Trail down a wash we will see saguaros and check dams. Returning to our cars via Las Lomitas. This hike is worth the cardio effort. As usual we might split the group into two groups depending on the size of the turnout. \nDriving Instructions:  Arrive at South Mt Park Entrance on Central Ave (I believe there is still major construction on Central and minor construction on 7th Ave and Baseline) so use 19th Ave to Dobbins. Go east L to Central to the park. Continue O.5 miles past the second pay station (no fee but restrooms). Pass Three Table Picnic Area and take your next left at the sign for Five Table.  The sign is faded blue and the lettering small. There are no restrooms at this parking lot. If you are using Google it refers to S Ramadas Cir\, but I didn’t see any signs for that. Look for 3 Table and 5 Table.
