Thank you to everyone who came to our first Toddlers Trails & Tales event! 25 parents/caregivers signed in… add the kids and we had a total of 50+ people fill our wonderful educational facility with little laughs & lots of learning this morning!

Special guests & speakers included: Debbie Hendricks/Just Roughin’ It, Claire Miller/City of Phoenix Park Ranger Supervisor, Kristen Keogh/fellow toddler mom & outdoorsy era influencer.

These three ladies in tennis shoes are a big part of the reason the Phoenix Mountain Preserve System exists today. #wisdomwednesday

Their passion and foresight to fight for open space in the 70s is inspiring & saved the desert for you to hike & enjoy.

The City of Phoenix officially honored their years of service & impact in April 1995.

The recognition reads in part:

Now therefore be it resolved:
“That the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Board recognizes and salutes, Dottie Gilbert, Ruth Hamilton, and Maxine Lakin, for their years of dedicated service and community leadership to the Phoenix Mountains Preserve Program…”
